Each pen made by Nickel City Pens begins as a block of finely figured block of wood or synthetic, usually acrylic.

After being measured and cut to length, each blank is drilled vertically to allow placement of a metal tube. This tube serves as the a support for the pen components

The drilled blanks are then aligned and placed on a lathe where they are "roughed" down to a cylindrical shape.

Once a cylindrical shape is formed, the blanks are fine-honed using various turning tools to their final shape. This is performed at 1,200-1,800 rpm's. Care must be taken at this stage to avoid damaging the blanks.

once the final shape is achieved, the blanks are wet and dry sanded to 800 grit. Following this, acrylic blanks and resin-impregnated woods are polished to 12.000 grit at 2,000-2,500 rpm's.

The final blanks are viewed under a magnifying lens to ensure a smooth, blemish free surface.

The pen is then assembled using components that are constructed of various materials including gold (14-22k), Rhodium, Platinum, and Titanium. The cost of the pen is significantly influenced by the selected components.

The finished pen is ready for immediate use. With proper care, each pen is expected to provide many years of quality writing.
